BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition

🌍 BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition

Empowering Youth Through Global Innovation and Collaboration

The BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition is a dynamic global initiative for students aged 6 to 21, organised by the British International Education Association (BIEA) and supported by the UK’s leading scientific and educational institutions, including University College London, Imperial College London, and the Royal Institution.

Each year, the competition challenges students to tackle real-world environmental and humanitarian issues through the lens of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths). With a unique annual theme focused on science and innovation, it encourages young people worldwide to think creatively, collaborate across cultures, and apply their skills to shape a sustainable future.

🌱 A Platform for Purpose-Driven Innovation
The competition is more than an academic exercise — it is a launchpad for the next generation of global problem-solvers. By connecting STEM education with current global challenges, BIEA bridges the gap between young people, industry, and innovation.

Participants:

  • Build real-world skills in teamwork, research, design, and communication
  • Explore careers in emerging technologies and sustainable industries
  • Engage with international experts, educators, and institutions
  • Contribute to a growing movement of youth-led solutions for our planet

📚 Our Journey So Far

Since its inception, the BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition has grown into a global platform for youth-led innovation and sustainability.

Over the years, the competition has explored a wide range of themes, including:

  • Drone technology for wildlife conservation
  • Plastic pollution and ocean clean-up
  • Sustainable cities and smart design
  • Eco-conscious fashion and material innovation
  • Food security through sustainable intensification

Each theme invites students to engage with urgent global issues, apply cutting-edge technologies, and propose meaningful solutions that reflect both scientific thinking and social responsibility.

🤝 Global Reach, Local Connection
BIEA partners with schools, universities, embassies, charities, and technology experts to deliver a competition that blends global perspective with local impact. While the final competition remains an international celebration of innovation, BIEA also hosts face-to-face events, regional workshops, and community showcases throughout the year — connecting students directly with the STEM community.
